Mark Marsters
Dates Showing: January 12th - February 18th, 1997

Which came first, the word or the image? Eastern Edge hosted an exhibition which looked at the relationship between the textual and the visual through work by two artists. Eyland exhibited his recent paintings in collaboration with Jack Eastwood and son Eliot Wright, who titled the works. Marsters engaged the viewer in his storytelling. Ink and watercolour drawings were displayed on panels as vignettes from tales which were recorded and played on wall mounted audio cassette players. Marsters provided seating for comfort and to enhance the overall experience of the work. Jack Eastwood and Eliot Wright were interviewed by CBC Radio about their involvement with the project. The MUN Gazette reviewed the exhibition and, although this review was full of inaccuracies, it did draw in viewers from the student population at Memorial University).
